Maintaining Focus in Your Job Search

Unemployment has become rampant the world over. This has led to frustrations among the rising numbers of job seekers, thereby leading to unintelligent choices and decisions in relation to searching for jobs.

Fraudsters and con men have taken advantage on the situation and are luring unknowing individuals into parting with their hard-earned cash or savings. An employment seeker should be very sober and have a clear conscious when looking for a job, as con men are looking for any loopholes and opportunities to defraud the unemployed.

Frustration may lead one to choose on any job opportunity or vacancy that comes his or her way but this is very inappropriate. One should choose a career that he or she is comfortable with and not just any job due to frustration. A job is something that should be carried out with dedication and commitment and at the same time, one should be happy while working. If one chooses any job, doubts will definitely arise as regards to the commitment and happiness of the worker.

A job seeker should have a plan as to what he or she wants to do. The job seeker should make a number of considerations before taking up on a job opportunity. The following considerations could help in making the right decision.

1. What is the career line of the job seeker?
2. What are the requirements and qualifications needed for the available vacancy?
3. Would the available opportunity be enough to support the job seeker?
4. Is the job a permanent one or a short, part-time job?
5. Does the job have any incentives?

The above considerations are the major issues of concern that the job seeker should look at before making any major decision lest he or she regrets.

Construction Jobs Abroad - Overseas Jobs in the Middle East

It's true that the worldwide economic crisis has affected numerous industries, including construction, where companies in various countries have had to cut down on the number of employees they are hiring and retaining. However, certain areas of the world, particularly the Middle East, remain viable options for those who are looking for construction jobs abroad.

According to research undertaken by the Kuwait National Bank, ongoing and planned development projects in GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) countries -- i.e., the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia -- indicate that jobs will continue to be generated in the years to come. And while the recession has had a big impact on the construction, financial, and information technology industries in the UAE, the job market remains vibrant due to the value of those planned or ongoing projects.

In fact, according to the Kuwait National Bank's study, the aggregate value of those projects is approximately USD 2.1 trillion at the close of the second quarter of 2009. Moreover, the growth of development projects has been promising, at the rate of about 50 percent per annum.

Another promising study, this time conducted by Mercer, showed that approximately 73 percent of companies in the GCC region plan to increase their growth in 2009. One of the ways they aim to do this is by adding to their employee numbers. This "future" trend certainly seems to be true even now. Just browse through the web sites of international recruitment agencies and you will see plenty of job vacancies in the UAE and elsewhere in the GCC.

The region is a popular destination among top-notch expatriate workers in the building industry and other industries for many reasons: no income tax, the progressive yet culturally-rich environment, the diversity of people, etc. It can be an excellent career move for those seeking to work in construction jobs abroad

Video Careers - Camera Operators, Editing, & Film Production

Have you ever watched your favorite television program and thought about how the show was made? What you see on television or at the movies is the end result of many complex operations that take place behind the scenes.

Key elements in any media production are the photography (video or film) and editing. Camera operators and editors are in demand at television stations, news organizations, film production studios, advertising agencies, and even corporate video communications divisions. With the right career training, you could enter the exciting world of video or film production and enjoy a rewarding career. Here is a look at some dynamic media career choices and the training you might need to get started.

Camera operators capture the story on television, film, or video cameras. They work in film studios, on location, and for news organizations in the field. They may also work for corporations as in-house content producers. Some camera operators are self-employed and are hired to videotape special events including weddings and conference program sessions. Camera operators in television studios use large cameras on rolling mounts to videotape a program.

Producing a high-quality image requires having technical knowledge of digital camera systems, selecting the right equipment, and knowing how to set up a shot.

News camera operators work as part of a team with an on-air field reporter. The challenge is to get to the scene of a newsworthy event and get the story on video in time to be edited for the next news program. Occasionally, news teams including the camera operator are required to "camp out" at a location (such as at a lengthy trial or the scene of a missing-persons case) for days or even weeks.

Physical fitness is required to carry heavy equipment. Steadicam operators, who work for film production companies, wear a special harness that supports the camera. The harness and the camera are specially designed provide a smooth picture while the camera operator moves with the action. For some dramatic scenes the director may specify a hand-held camera that mimics what a real person might see.

Film and video editors take the "raw footage" that has been delivered on film or as a digital file and assemble the finished product. They select from many different shots and blend the edits together to tell the story seamlessly. Nowadays, most of the editing work is done on a computer. The editor works closely with the film or news director to create an effective visual narrative.

Education and Training

Production companies and news organizations seek camera operators and editors with creativity, imagination, and a thorough technical understanding of how cameras and editing equipment operate. Many people get their training at accredited vocational schools, colleges, universities, or photographic institutes. For some positions a bachelor's degree may be required, particularly film and video editors.

Reputable career and broadcasting/media colleges offer many quality television production career training programs that could prepare you for exciting entry-level positions. Basic courses usually cover the use of video camera and editing equipment, digital processes, and editing techniques. Many programs provide training in computer technology. Film schools also may provide instruction on the artistic or aesthetic aspects of filmmaking, including the study of the history of film as an art form.

How Large Is the Industry?

According to the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics (USBLS) Career Guide to Industries, 2010-11 Edition, in the United States about 47,000 jobs are held by camera operators and editors in television, video, and motion pictures. Video editors hold about 21,000 jobs, while about 27,000 are camera operators. Many are employed by local affiliate stations of television networks, while others work for independent television stations, cable and television networks, corporations, and smaller independent production companies.

Job Outlook

In the current decade from 2008 to 2018, the USBLS expects rapid expansion of the entertainment market, especially movie and television production, to spur demand for camera operators. Computer and Internet services are expected to provide new outlets for interactive productions.

Employment is expected to grow about as fast as the average. Over the 2008-2018 decade, opportunities for camera operators and editors are expected to grow about sixteen percent, which is about as fast as the average for all occupations. Camera operators will be needed to film Internet broadcasts, including live music videos, sports features, digital movies, and entertainment programming.

If you dream about an exciting career behind the scenes at a television program, news organization, or film production company, the future could hold many opportunities. With the right training, you could be a part of the action and enjoy a rewarding career making television and video programs enjoyed by millions around the world.

Part Time Careers For Moms

Part time careers for moms are very difficult to find, unless you are already established in a great career, that allows you the money and flexibility you desire? Flexibility is essential when you have children that need you to be there. You want to make sure your kids are fed, clean and mothered, and you want to have the time to do this yourself. I do not know of any traditional part time careers, for moms- that want to be there for their children.

Mothers are expected to do just about anything that needs doing, but you know what? That is okay, because no one can do it better than we can. We are strong enough to handle it, and much more. We take care of our families without complaint, we earn our own money and we are always there when we are needed. We are mothers, that is what we do. It would be nice if we could find some place that offered part time careers for moms, but there is not one. Not to earn the money, and have the flexibility we want.

I will always be a mother first, but I see no reason to give up earning my own money. I am just not willing to leave my child with some one else while I do it. This is not something I would change. I also know I will not find any part time careers for moms out there, and if I did I would not be working for myself, and making my own decisions. This is not a option for me. The type of part time careers for moms I want do not exist, so I looked for and found a solution.

I found my opportunity. Perfect for us career minded mothers. It is the best online training facility available. I was able to start training immediately with the step by step action plan provided to me FREE with membership. I quickly started learning all I could about Internet marketing. There is so much provided. Tutorials, tools, tips and strategies, and all the information I need to succeed online. This is perfect! No more searching for part time careers for moms. I know I found exactly what I need. This is it. All we need to continue earning all the money we want.

Whatever your reason for wanting or needing extra money, this training facility is your solution. You will never have to worry about part time careers for moms, or money again. If you take action to succeed. YOU WILL SUCCEED. Everything is provided for you once you are a member. This is your source for whatever amount of money you want to make. Your career is here, working for yourself. Follow through and you will not fail.

This is the best training facility online or offline, to learn any thing and everything about being successful online. I HAD a hard time learning how to succeed online, that is the past, it actually seems easy now. It is all about the training. Like with all things, ACTION is required, but that is not something we are not used to, and absolutely will not stop me. I hope it will not stop you. It sure beats looking for part time careers for moms. Join me now and your success will follow.

Career Women Make Bad Mothers

Got your attention? The headline sure did grab mine when I saw the billboard on the high street. It was part of a recent media campaign in the UK launched to demonstrate the power of advertising. Many women's groups were outraged and the ad was quickly withdrawn - and rightly so.

Why does the media have to pick on working mothers? "Many children have paid a price for the rise of two-income households," says The Economist. There's no mention of course of the multitude of households that have BENEFITED as a result of greater financial security and increased happiness of the family unit. It's no wonder why so many career women feel guilty about working! Where are all the POSITIVE messages about the many ADVANTAGES of combining career and family?

The question often asked is "should mothers work" and "what's best for the kids? " If life were only that simple. Family dynamics are complicated. Children are happy, when the family unit is happy. That happiness is individual and unique - one size doesn't fit all. The definition of happiness also changes as life changes - businesses change, kids change, and your goals and aspirations change as you get older.

No matter what you decide, be confident in your decisions about the shape of your career-family lifestyle. There is no need for a guilt trip! While kids do need love, attention, encouragement and guidance, having a career doesn't preclude a mother or father from providing any of these building blocks needed to raise good kids. In fact, I would argue that a career is a great training ground for improving key parenting skills - communication, conflict management, and commitment to name a few.

We often forget how much children learn by watching - and they do watch every move! It's one of the key ways they learn about the world. Many career women have seen how their children learn to be independent. They learn to problem solve - a parent is not always around to sort things out. They learn social skills as they are often required to integrate with other adults and children in a variety of settings.

Children learn teamwork. They see mothers, fathers, grandparents, childcare providers work as a strong team, enabling parents to juggle the demands of work and family. My complete list of the many benefits that working mothers offer their families (and businesses) is too long to include in a blog. Suffice it to say, "Career Women Make BRILLIANT Mothers!"

Christine is an author, professional speaker and consultant and her mission is to empower young women to have the confidence to combine career & family, as well as to support organizations in their efforts to promote women in business. Her inspiration comes from balancing her own high-powered career in international banking with an active family life for over 20 years. She has 3 children and a spouse, with an equally demanding career, and knows how to strike the right balance between career goals and family aspirations, using a common set of values, strategies and skill sets.

Job Hunting Strategy - How To Develop a Winning Proactive Job Hunting Strategy!

A winning job hunting strategy-don't follow the crowd but develop a proactive job hunting strategy!

The average job search, according to most experts takes up to five months or longer to find a job. The higher the salary or a career in a very narrow niche, normally, the longer the search. Being out of work five months or longer is a long time to be working at a job hunt.

There are a number of reasons the job hunt takes so long. One of the main reasons is because most job seekers are using the almost identical job search strategy. It is a "wait and wish" strategy. First they search for jobs that are advertised, in the local newspaper or the internet. Second, they select a job that they may be qualified for and send in a resume. Finally, they "wait and wish" for a positive response.

Most job hunters are not aware that about 25% of all jobs that are being filled are through advertising-the visible job market. When told about this many job hunters are surprised. This means there is a less visible or hidden job market where about 75% or more jobs are filled without advertising. This is positive news for the job applicant who is willing to develop a strategy to tap into this hidden job market.

Here are five steps, which are easy to implement, to tap into this out of sight job market.

1. Identify where you want to work, the type of job you would qualify for and if possible the employers you would be interested in working for. Build a list of potential employers that you call your career prospect list. This list should be as long as possible, don't overlook any possible opportunities.

2. Now you need to do some research on each potential employer on your career prospect list. Use the internet if the organization has a web site. Otherwise, your local library has information on many companies. Look for current company news (events over the past year; people promoted, new products, etc.) in the local newspaper or a local business journal.

Look for a directory of company officers and managers. Use this information to send your employment package directly to the appropriate company official.

3. Don't overlook the advertised positions. Budget your job hunting time wisely. If the advertised jobs are 25% of available jobs, keep your job hunting time in balance. One tip: If you see an employer looking for employees in an area that you may not be qualified chances are since they are growing they may have now or in the future openings to which you may be qualified.

4. You have the name of the company official in the department or area that you would be working. Now is the time to do something that many job hunters do not do. Make direct contact with the organization, personalize your cover letter and resume.

5. Just sending a resume and cover letter to a prospective employer, without proper follow-up, will drop you back in the "wait and wish" category. Develop a tight follow-up system. Be persistent and determined to follow-up on the information sent the company. If you can't get through on the phone send a follow-up letter. If you can get an email address us this avenue.

If you get through and the answer is "no," find out if there might be something in the future. Thank them for their time and ask if they know of anyone that might be interested in your qualifications. If they give you a referral be sure to send them a thank you note.

This system does work. Often when your resume and cover letter gets to an official or manager, they may have been thinking about adding a function, or someone just quit or got fired and now you are the only applicant. This process will put you ahead of the majority of job hunters, you'll get a job quicker and the job will likely be a better fit for your career.

Cutting Through The Hype - How to Become a Fashion Model

A fashion models job has the first appearances of being a glamorous one. Once you attain the position of it you go through a life of beauty, receive tons of money for just looking great, and numerous people idolize you for both your looks and your talent.

Numerous younger girls and boys alike, dream of someday living the life of a successful fashion model. Nevertheless, the job itself is more challenging then they realize. There are many requirements to be a fashion model. In addition to the mandatory requirement of exceptional physical beauty, you also need superior mental traits to help you to both survive and excel in the fashion and beauty industry as well as with your competitors.

The Talent

A certain amount of talent is a necessary trait to have when being a fashion model. Beauty only takes you so far in modeling. Simply looking into a camera is only one aspect of modeling as there is so much more to it than that. In a sense it is kind of like acting. You must become the character or the object that you are modeling. You have to have the ability and talent to portray emotion from the facial expressions you show to your body language.

A fashion models primary job is to make any type of item look good and hence more appealing to the market they are catering to. This also goes beyond just clothing. They are suppose to make look appealing anything from a dust-repelling sofa spray or million dollar shoes.

Lets face it, if these models do not look good or with their charisma do not sell the product, then there is no point to them. Some also walk the catwalks and runways. To do this in a proper manner, the right posture as well as walking must be learned.

The Look

Sadly, personality and inner beauty do not cut it when it comes to the world of fashion. A certain look must accompany a fashion model. Fundamental guidelines state that to be able to walk down the runway, a female model must be at least 34-24-34.

That is to say that their bust and hips should be 34 inches and their waist should be 24 inches. Additionally, they should be at a minimum 5 feet 8 inches tall. Because measures such as these are very extreme, they have promoted dramatic eating disorders. There are some modeling agencies that will not accept models who have been proven to be underweight on a clinical level.

Naturally, not all women modeling fall under this thin category. There is an additional option of plus size modeling. Plus size modeling stands for bigger sizes. An average woman would most probably not conform into either of these categories.

In addition to being the right weight and height, a fashion model must have beautiful hair, skin, and face. Make up and airbrushing can make anyone thinner and flawless, only it makes the job easier if they can take a fresh, young face and work from there.

Strategies For A Successful Career Change

Research has shown that the average adult changes careers at least 3 times during their life (and often more than that). That figure makes sense when you consider how much we grow over time and that a career spans at least 40 years. Over time our values, priorities, and interests change and we often find ourselves looking for something different from our work. The career we found ourselves in during our 20s may differ greatly from where we would like to be in our 50s. Although many of us realize at some point that we would like to change careers, there are many things that hold us back - lack of direction, fear, money, or uncertainty can all contribute. These simple strategies can help get you started on finding the career of your dreams.

1. Assess your strengths, weaknesses, likes and dislikes. Make a list of what you are good at and what you enjoy doing. This list should include everything you enjoy - even if it is just a hobby for you. Ideally, you want a career that allows you to use your strengths and perform work that you love doing all day. Along the same lines, you don't want a career that doesn't fit your interests or your skills. This will make your days long and lead to dissatisfaction in your job.

2. Research your career choices based on the preferences you identified in the first step. This may include taking a couple of professional career assessments. The benefit of career assessments is that they help identify things you aren't able to see yourself and can suggest career possibilities that you may have overlooked or not considered. Some assessments can even tell you, based on the test results, how well you would fit in with the "typical" person in that career.

3. Explore the occupations on your list. Speak with someone currently in that career and see what they enjoy and what they dislike about it. Find out what advice they would offer someone entering that profession. If necessary, get additional training or education to further explore the field. Try contract work or an internship to test the waters.

4. Set and define goals. This is a very important step. Having a plan is critical to your success. Setting and defining your goals will help keep you on track and help you measure your progress.

5. Find a coach or mentor. Find someone that can help you through the transition. This may be a life or career coach that can support you along the journey and provide you with accountability and perspective or a mentor that can share his or her experience with you and help you learn the ropes.

6. Network. The importance of networking cannot be underestimated. The old saying "it's not what you know but who you know" is very true. Friends or people with solid business relationships will help each other out. Many people are well connected and can possibly help you find a new job.

7. Make your move. This is the really scary part for most people. Now that you've done the research, explored your interests thoroughly, and set your goals, it's time to make your move and get the job of your dreams!

While changing careers and venturing into the unknown can be scary, research and preparation can help you make a successful career transition. Finding the career of your dreams can bring you much happiness and help you in living the life of your dreams.

Tips for a Successful Phone Interview

More and more companies use in-depth phone interviews to screen candidates that may even include multiple managers or interviewers. Do you know how to succeed and make the best impression?

Many companies use the phone interview as an initial screening tool and most often, a recruiter will contact you to schedule your interview in advance. If you should be contacted by a recruiter or manager to do an immediate phone interview and are not expecting the call, you should make a quick assessment of your situation.

If you have no distractions around you and you feel ready, go ahead. On the other hand, if the time is not good for one (you just had a discussion with your teen who is slamming doors, your dog just threw up in front of you, or there is a fire in your kitchen, ) ask if you could schedule the call for later in the day or the next day. You will not be at your best if there is chaos going on around you.

1.) At the time of the phone interview, assure that your surroundings are quite and minimize any potential disruptions. Speak loud enough and with a clear, confident voice. Smile when you're speaking, as it will reflect friendliness in your voice.

2.) If at all possible, use a landline phone. I've conducted countless interviews where the cell reception was very poor, and it was difficult to hear the candidates' responses.

3.) If possible, ask the names and positions held of the people on the call. Some people are very comfortable giving their name; others fear that they will be deluged with phone calls from candidates after the interview. When you ask them for their name, remember, they are interviewing you; you are not interviewing them. Your tone of voice when you ask is very important. A group phone interview is not unusual. Write their names down so that you can use their names when addressing them or answering questions.

4.) If a question requires a long or highly technical answer, ask the interviews the amount of time they allowed or detail they would like, so you can gauge how to expand on shorten your reply.

5.) Make sure to thank the interviewers for their time at the conclusion of the phone interview. If they do not indicate the next step, it is okay to ask what to expect next, or what kind of timetable they are on.

6.) If you are interested in the position, be sure to enthusiastically let them know. "This sounds like a great opportunity with your company, I'd be very interested in continuing with the process."

7.) Don't be discouraged if you do not get an immediate invitation for an in-person interview; often they may want to have a consensus meeting and discuss all the candidates at that step before proceeding.

If you do not hear from the organization at all after the phone call, (which unfortunately, happens too frequently), or if you receive a "Thanks, no thanks" reply, do not be discouraged. Just look at yourself as being that much more practiced and prepared for when the right job does come along!

Job Interviewing Tips

Conquering The Interview

You've made it to the interview and like any normal human being, your feelings of happiness will not supersede the anxiety that accompanies interviewing, even for those who have been through it before. The only way to really alleviate some of that stress is to make sure you are truly prepared for the interview. Young Jobs guidelines of interview preparation will provide you with the means to have a successful interview.

Research: Getting to know the Company

Being knowledgeable about the company you will be interview with is by far one of the most important steps in the interview process. Without a doubt, the interviewer will be impressed with someone who has taken the time to research the company before arriving at the interview. If you make an effort to get to know the organization, you will find yourself ahead of the other candidates. Employers don't just want someone that can get the job done; they also want someone that respects their company and has interest and enthusiasm for their work.

Nowadays most businesses and organizations have their own websites or can be researched through articles found on the internet. However, we do acknowledge that not all companies can be researched this way and not all job seekers have a great deal of access to the internet. If either of these are the case, try going to your local library and finding articles or books about the company and/or the field of work it falls under.

Research: Getting to know yourself

Because you have taken the time to research the company and learn what it has to offer, you can now deduce what they might want in their employees and incorporate your paralleled capabilities in to the interview. Rather than thinking of yourself as an anxious job seeker on an interview, think of yourself as a sales person, selling your skills and ability. Review your resume a few times before your interview. Consider each piece of experience you have listed and the skills that were required. Did you gain collaboration skills working at a restaurant or leadership skills as president of a club or organization? Whatever the case may be, chose appropriately for each position you are interviewing for and utilize those skills in your "selling points". This not only provides you with conversation pieces but you will also find that knowing more about yourself as a potential employee will give you more confidence.

Also keep in mind the skills or assets that you have acquired in everyday life. For instance, most companies are looking for determination in their employees, so if the moment arises to tell them that you finished 3rd in the city marathon after months of training, take it. Even though it is not necessarily related to the work, it will make a good impression on your potential employer. To avoid sounding arrogant, express your experiences as learning tools and your skills as a gift. The tricky part is trying not to create so much to talk about that you dominate the conversation. It's better to give a shorter answer that's direct and to the point, than to babble on for several minutes in a disorderly fashion. It is always best to follow the interviewers lead. This brings us to the importance to practicing...

Practice

Doing research and knowing your "sales pitch" will definitely help you interview with greater success, but there is truly no substitute for actually rehearsing for the interview. Ask a family member or friend to act as the interviewer, providing them with a list of questions to ask you. While you might feel funny doing this, just remember that it will be even harder to interview with a stranger, so practicing can only help ease the process. Before you sit in the hot seat, make sure you have an idea of how you would like to answer the questions you have selected. Even having a notion as to how you will respond will build more confidence and impress the interviewer.

If a question arises that is not familiar to you, do not make something up or change the subject. Rather, tell them that's a good question but you do not have an answer for the time being, but are eager to gain the knowledge. Your potential employer will respect your honesty and readiness to learn new things.

Aside from verbal communication, it is also important to acknowledge your body language. Making eye contact is crucial. If you fail to look the interviewer in the eyes while they are speaking they will think you are disinterested; if you fail to look them in the eyes while you are speaking, they will think you are nervous of fabricating your answers. Try not to fiddle around with your hands too much, or you will appear nervous. A more affective way to use your hands is with slight gestures to evoke enthusiasm for what you are talking about. While it is common knowledge to sit up straight and observe good posture, you don't want to seem uneasy. Try to sit back in your chair with your head held high so the interviewer will know you are self-assured as well as attentive to what he or she is talking about. Try practicing your body language in a mirror or with a video camera.

Appearance

Let's face it, we all know that the visual impression is the first impression you make when meeting someone face to face for the first time. That's why it is essential to dress the part. When interview for a job, it is important to dress the way that you would if you had the job. If you don't know what the attire is, ask when you are setting up the interview or dress slightly more formal than you think you might need to. Wear clothes that are freshly washed and ironed. Along with the clothing, make sure you are up on your grooming: Comb your hair, clean your fingernails, and be sure to brush your teeth before you go to your interview. Try to avoid overdoing perfume or cologne, too much make-up, and excessive jewelry.

Arrive Early

Getting to your interview early does not only make you look good in the eyes of the employer, but it will also make the interview process that much easier. Trust us, there is nothing more stressful, than arriving late to an interview. Not only are you worried about what the interviewer might think, you are more likely to forget most of what you've practiced because you are so overwhelmed with being tardy. When you arrive 10-15 minutes early you have time to look over any last minute notes, use the restroom, and most importantly, take deep breathes. Nothing throws up the red flag quicker to a potential employer than an applicant showing up late to an interview.

Proper Introduction

As intimidating as this may sound, you are under observation from the very first moment you meet the interviewer. In order to make a proper introduction, make direct eye contact, extend a firm but nonabrasive handshake, smile with enthusiasm, and let them know your name and what a pleasure it is to meet them. These might seem like obvious and mundane gestures, but all potential employers will be examining your interpersonal skills by how you introduce yourself.

Returning the Questions
Towards the end of your interview, you will most likely be given the option to ask any questions you might have for the company. This is a great way to let them know that you are just as interested in getting to know them as they are in getting to know you. Asking the interviewer questions, is a great opportunity to make sure you have complete clarity in regards to the position and its expectations. If you feel uncertain about where you will fit in the company, what an average day will look like or anything else to do specifically with the job, feel free to use this time to inquire further. You can also ask about the environment of the company or the report between co-workers. However, it is never wise to ask about pay, benefits, sick days, etc. during the first interview. Once you have been offered the position, you are free to ask those questions before deciding to accept the job.

Now would also be a good time to tie in any final reasons as to why you are a perfect match for the job. It doesn't hurt to make reference to things that were said during the interview. Emphasize your enthusiasm for the position and anticipation for moving forward within the interview process. Avoid sounding desperate or too eager while maintaining your interest.

Be clear on what happens after the interview. Find out when they will be contacting you again or how you should follow-up if they would prefer it that way. Just as you entered with a proper introduction, make sure you exit just the same, with direct eye-contact, firm handshake, and a smile.

Follow Up

Even though you have made it though your first interview, you have one more crucial step in completing the interview process, the follow-up. This is best accomplished by sending a thank you letter to those you were interviewed by. Make sure it goes out within 1-2 business days. Reiterate points that were made during the interview and why you are the right fit for the position. Try to customize your thank you letter rather than sending a generic thank you that won't make much impact on the company. Remember to acknowledge your appreciation for their time and consideration. From there, if you do not have instructions to wait for them to contact you, follow up with a phone call around one week later to check the status on filling the position.

The last piece of advice Young Jobs would like to offer job seekers in conquering the interview is to BE YOURSELF!

We would say good luck, but if you follow our guidelines, we know you won't need luck to succeed!

7 Critical Things Male Business Gurus Don't Tell You, But Every Woman Wants to Know

Much of the business advice from male business gurus doesn't quite cut it for women entrepreneurs. These gurus haven't figured out how they advice is different for women. Plus, they've left out some parts all together!

I've come to this conclusion after being a Corporate America drop out and starting my own business. I realized there was much to learn about building a business so started to seek out the knowledge and understanding I needed through books, seminars, teleseminars, and networking.

Over time what I observed is that the conversations I was having with women entrepreneurs were often different than conversations I had with men. For example, I could be at a seminar and during the break chat with another woman while getting coffee. We often shared what the speaker said what it meant to us, which usually included something that the presenter didn't even bring up.

What I started to realize is that though much of the information was good and I used it, I had to usually put it through my female filter, I had to do some translating so I could apply it. I also found myself with some questions that I had to answer myself. I started to realize why. Most of these resources were presented by men. Well intended men, but men none the less.

Very simply, by default built into their advice was a male perspective, which has some merit. But, it's not the whole picture. Their advice didn't address a woman's perspective or talents. It didn't address my "world" as a woman. But, then how could it? Men and women don't seem to approach anything the same, so why should it be different in business?

It's not! A big reason why I started the Bodacious Women's Club is because I wanted to address women entrepreneurs' needs that weren't being met. I wanted to shortcut the "translation" and fill in the gaps that were missing.

It all starts with awareness. So, I've created a list of seven critical things male business gurus don't tell you, but every woman wants to know. Keep these in mind whenever you're seeking out knowledge or advice for your business that comes from any man. You may be surprised what you discover!

1. Most business guru's miss how women experience life so differently than men. Because of our brain wiring, women experience life in a much more intuitive, emotional, and integrated way. Men, on the other hand, pretty much think about one thing at a time and usually do little to relate one thing to another.

2. Most women define success differently than men. Success for most women is heavily tied to emotional and intrinsic fulfillment that comes from multiple areas of life. Women aren't satisfied with sacrificing family or loved ones to have business success. We want it all and they want experts to help us get it all. Most men define success in terms of money, status, and power.

3. Most business gurus don't address the stress most women experience. Because of all the roles most women play, being able to manage stress effectively is key to having a successful business and life. Men typically juggle fewer roles and don't stress over someone's needs not being met.

4. Most business gurus don't address the impact of significant relationships in a woman's life that directly affect her business success and how to keep them in good health. Because women experience life in a more integrated way, when a significant relationship like with a spouse or parent, is out of kilter, everything else is affected, including her business.

5. Most business gurus don't say that taking care of yourself is as important as taking care of a client. Most women struggle with doing good things for themselves and their business suffers as a result.

6. Most business gurus don't delve into how women can use their natural strengths - like relationship skills - as a huge competitive advantage for growing their business.

7. Most business gurus don't address the "good girl" tendencies most women have from their upbringings that hold them back from making their business wildly successful. A great example of this is how women hold themselves back from proactively selling themselves or their product or service.

Is There a Difference Between a Job and a Career?

So, you've decided that now is the right time to get a new career or pursue that new job. What language do you use to describe your work habits? How do you think and speak about what you get paid for? Do you use 'my career is'? Or 'my job is'?

Do you think of yourself as 'career orientated' or 'career minded'? Perhaps, do you see a career is something that comes with having a string of qualifications? Is 'having a career' something better than 'having a job'? Or are they same?

Generally, people assume the two are different. They are, by definition, however can they be separated in reality? One of the biggest differences between having a job and having a career could be that of attitude and thought. Please, before you jump and down and list your qualifications carry on reading... You see there is so much ambiguity, ideas and lies around careers and jobs for example:

* A job does not include a career but a career usually involves many jobs
* A job is a means to an end; a career is more personally fulfilling
* A job is lower paid than a career role
* A career is harder to achieve than getting a job
* A career obviously involves many qualifications, having a career is very specialised

So, can you have a well thought out career that pays well: full of advancement, progression and promotional opportunities. Yet you detest it. No, you loathe it. You cry going in and are depressed after your holidays.

Well, you are working a job. You are working to pay the bills. Your career does not fit your passion and purpose.

On the other hand. Say, you call what you get paid for a job. It may not have taken you years of qualifications to get there; it might not be well paid however it is lucrative in other ways. You love it. Everything about it. The tasks. The people. The day-to-day role. The customers. Even though you may not think about it this way yet, you have a career.

Do you need some definitions? Okay...

Career: A chosen pursuit, occupation or profession. Job: A task, or series of tasks you get paid for.

Please focus on the word CHOSEN. So, whatever you have chosen to do. That's a career.

The job element is the tasks you undertake within that career. People who have a career, also have a job, otherwise they would not have a career. They get paid for carrying out tasks (jobs) that fit the career choice. People who have jobs are still within a career choice.

A career is a path, full of choices, using your full skills, talents and experiences. The path is not 'job' or 'tasks' yet it is made up of a lifelong journey that fully utilises your strengths and talents. It encompasses your leisure, family, relationships; it's made up of all the parts of you. The fact you get paid for this is the job element.

So is there a difference in career versus job? Yes, by definition. The jobs we carry out may be better to sit in alignment with our career journey: the roads we are choosing that sit well with us emotionally will ensure that we are working on tasks that are following our passion and purpose in our career planning, job hunting and career changes.

Flexible and Flourishing - Why to Go For Administration Jobs

Administration jobs remain one of the most highly sought-after forms of employment, with almost 60 applicants per position. A sector which encompasses much variety, two admin jobs are rarely the same, and offer good scope for progression for the passionate and enthusiastic individual. It pays not to be disheartened by the aforementioned statistic. It is true that there is much competition for these sorts of jobs but crucially, there are also a significant number of openings. In the last quarter alone, over 10,000 available Administration jobs were posted online.

What can you expect from an administration job? The buzz-word when it comes to this sort of job is versatility. Whether in a secretarial job, acting as a PA or another type of administrative role, the requirements and expectations will often vary from company to company. There are, however, some standard aspects which form the basis of administration jobs. Computer skills are of paramount importance. An individual should have good knowledge of the typical office programmes (Word, Excel etc.) and should be fully competent in using the Internet. Solid verbal and written communication abilities are also a must. A person in an administrative job often acts as a note-taker and messenger, ensuring common understanding and thus the cohesion of the company as a whole. The people best suited to jobs in administration tend to be inherently organized. More often than not, individuals in admin jobs play a significant part in the day-to-day co-ordination of those in higher positions, so the administrator should be comfortable and confident in organizing not only themselves, but being held accountable for others too. Pro-activity and prioritization are benchmarks of this profession.

So why are administration jobs so popular? This sort of employment is particularly attractive for a number of reasons. Administration is at the core of any business, so a person in an administration job is in the hub of the activity. This situation is perfect for all levels of ambition: it is ideal for someone who wishes to be part of the working world and to benefit from its vibrancy, but who is perhaps happy to remain in a less pressured role with a more gentle (but nonetheless important) level of responsibility. At the same time, administration positions act as great stepping stones for those who wish to progress. Starting at this base level allows for solid introduction into the workings of a company. With a firm grasp of the operations of the business, an individual becomes a valuable commodity and is likely to be noticed and thus called upon when opportunities for advancement arise.

When competing for administration jobs, the best quality to demonstrate is keenness. Administrative roles ensure the smooth running of a business, so an enthusiasm for knowledge of the workings on every level, and an obvious desire to learn more, are sure to impress a potential employer. Do your research before applying to an admin jobs. If necessary, even look over copies of relevant periodicals and other publications to provide you with good background information on the specific company, the sector and the industry as a whole.

It is also essential to show that you have the capacity to be flexible. The daily tasks of a person in jobs of an administrative nature are often diverse - from conversing with the office cleaner to interacting with the CEO! A positive attitude, sunny disposition and willingness to embrace change will serve office admin jobs very well.

Administrative professionals are arguably amongst the most skilled and competent in today's workforce. Administration jobs can be a fulfilling role and, when coupled which a proactive approach, can be a great starting point for an impressive career.
